How providers trade away speed to get that low price differs more than people expect. Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive and Azure Archive Storage require an explicit restore step that can take hours before a file becomes downloadable again. None of that material needs to open in under a second \u2014 it needs to exist cheaply and be recoverable when someone eventually asks for it.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The risk shows up when archiving decisions are made without checking whether an asset is still \u201clive\u201d in a non-obvious way \u2014 under an active license negotiation, named in a pending discovery request, or referenced in an open contract dispute.
